Many of you do not know yet, but I recieved a call from my new apartment in Davis last week asking if I wanted to move in early instead of on the 16th. I gladly accepted this arrangement, since me and Jessica couldn't stand living with our respective parents for too much longer. I am now completely moved in and just have to hang up some pictures. On to my rant.
If you are an apartment complex and asking tenants to move in, then you better well have the apartment ready to be lived in. When we got there, our apartment looked fine superficially. However some key things weren't right. First, the shower head wasn't even installed! How can we take showers without having a pipe for water to come out? Second, there was no hot water! Many things require hot water. Third, there was still dirt from the construction guys all over the apartment. A cleaning lady did come by, but this was after we were already all moved in. Fourth, the back door doesn't lock! Now that we have all our expensive shit in the apartment, how do we keep it safe? All of these things are really things that could have been fixed in a day, and they could have told us to move in a day later. Now how much of a hassle would that have been?
Ok, on to AT&T/SBC.
So weeks ago, I called the phone company so that they could easily transfer my phone service and DSL to my new apartment on the day that I was supposed to move in, and so that they could cancel my services when I moved out of my old apartment. It took about 30 minutes to complete my phone call. When I talked to the guy, he told me that I could be getting a better deal on my internet since I had fulfilled my previous contract. However, he couldn't give me the best deal, because they wouldn't let him do that. So I was like, ok, cancel my service, I'll just sign up for it again and get the good deal once I get moved in to my new place. Now when I heard about moving into my new apartment, it was already the weekend, so I couldn't call to get my phone service transferred earlier, and it was labor day weekend, so I had to wait till today to call. This morning I call, and first my cell phone lost reception, so I called back and they tell me that they can only bump up my order to the 11th. This is only 4 days. I spent a half hour on the phone to only get my phone service bumped up 4 days. And I still have to get my internet working there.
UPDATE : So I got an email from SBC the other day, and it said that they didn't offer the DSL Pro or whatever thing is up one step from the cheapest DSL. So I had to email them and tell them to connect me with the cheap DSL. This naturally took until Friday to have done. Also, they got my address zipcode wrong. So I had to call about that. In not so many words. I'm going with a different provider next time.
