Movie Review : Solaris

This movie turned out to be a welcomed surprise. I was at Blockbuster looking at movies and picked this as a last resort. So basically the plot is thus, George Clooney is some psychiatrist who gets sent to investigate a space station at a planet "Solaris" where strange things are happening.

The movie reminded me of a cross between Event Horizon / The Sixth Sense / Contact. I'm not sure if that sounds appealing at first, but it was. As far as why it reminded me of it, it seemed like it could be scary, had a twist, and was slow as hell... in a good way.

This isn't your standard space fantasy science fiction movie. Its more of a thinking man's movie. Very refreshing. I did lots of pondering of things like "Where do we go when we die?" and "Is there a god?"

So yeah, bottom line is if you are a fan of well put together thinking science fiction movies, rent this, but don't bother watching it more than once since it is pretty long and drawn out for our little MTV minds to handle.
