Knowing is half the battle

For some reason the "knowing is half the battle" line in G.I. Joe really sounds hilarious to me. But sometimes now I wish there were things that I didn't know. I just finished eating some hot pockets and reading slashdot.org. I came across an article about some high schools requiring 9th graders to "pick a major," similar to picking a major in college. This would require them to concentrate on particular fields and such, and hopefully make them more involved in school.

Reading shit like this just makes me upset. Hardly anyone knows what they want to do in College let alone the start of high school. This just seems like we will end up getting even more dumbass kids who don't know anything about anything... except maybe how to pirate videos off of youtube (which I admit is pretty awesome).

I also am reading more stuff on the politics of our country, and current candidates for president. I get sick when I think of how our system works and actually forces people to not critically think about things. Its all about being black and white, and not shades of gray. Candidates who know better are forced to make remarks and try to appeal to the popular vote so that they can actually have a hand in doing something. Its too bad the popular vote is retarted sometimes. I always liked the quote "a person is smart, people are dumb." I think it rings clear and true with the world.

Another thing that annoys me. The damn internet radio bullshit, RIAA, Movie Studios etc... I pay for netflix, go to movies, and sometimes buy albums off of emusic.com (would buy a subscription if I could afford it right now, but I also put in plenty of money to music creation companies). Nuff said.

So yeah, I'm just ranting about the more I know, the more upset I get.
