Diamonds

I was surfing the web, and found that this quote summarizes my opinion of diamonds.

The second I learned how to make diamonds with chemical vapor deposition and HTHP (high temperature high pressure) was the second I no longer believed they were special. - Sad_Scientist

We are able to make diamonds in the lab that are more perfect than real diamonds. The only way to tell these diamonds apart from the real thing is to do spectroscopy in IR, UV, or X-ray wavelengths. I don't think anyone carries around a portable spectroscopy machine.

Hell, the silicon that we use in everyday electronics is >99.9999% pure, crystalline, and pretty much defect free.
