Musical Tastes

Aren't musical tastes weird? I think so. I mean, its pretty darn hard to predict whether someone will like a particular piece of music. I guess the same goes with all art. Today I decided to further my music collection by getting some important pieces from various artists. This included :

Exploited : Punks Not Dead
L7 : Bricks Are Heavy
The Replacements : Tim
Sonic Youth : Daydream Nation
Joy Division : Closer
Quiet Riot : Metal Health
Circle Jerks : Golden Shower of Hits
X : Los Angeles
New York Dolls : New York Dolls
Talking Heads : 77
Dead Kennedys : Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
Old Man's Child : Revelation 666
Green Day : Warning
Anti Flag : For Blood & Empire
etc...

There were many more, and I got tired of listing them. It was quite a productive music collecting session. Now from what you read above, some of you might not have a clue what most of the stuff is, others might know EXACTLY what it is. Mostly they are early punk, metal, and alternative albums, with some exceptions. I've almost exhausted the important punk albums I can get for my collection. Soon I would start getting things simply because they are in the genre, and don't pose any musical significance.

Because of this, I think I might start venturing out into other realms of music. I don't want to get the important grunge/alternative albums, because I know my brother already has almost every band that came out on the scene in the early 90s.
I'm thinking metal may be more my style anyways. I already have several notable albums, and only need a few to get a respectable collection of the important metal bands. I already have some classics, as well as several "nu-metal" bands. However it will be hard not to want to venture into the other realms which aren't as recognizable and mainstream such as black metal, etc...

Another equally possible route for me to go would be to start getting music that my dad would have listened to when he grew up, namely the british invasion and other classic rock. Sadly he doesn't have the same extensive collection my brother has for me to just copy. So this is another equally feasible opportunity.

Luckily I have Jessica to keep me up to date on rock music today, since she generally likes much of what comes out on the radio.

Anyways, back to musical tastes. I am kinda curious as to what people who don't know me think I listen to. To my knowledge I don't really project any outward appearance anymore of anything related to what I like. Usually people don't at all.

Current Mood : Don't make me go to school!
Current Music : X : Los Angeles
