Finally, a film worthy of my review... umm.. actually.. Everything pretty much is. Anyways, Stanley Kubrick directed this movie and it was a fine end to his career I think. So far I've liked all the movies he's done... Spartacus, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, and of course 2001: A Space Odyssey. The list actually goes on and on. At first I didn't realize how many great films I'd seen that he's directed.
Anyways, back to the movie at hand. I thought this was just a movie about the relationship of a married couple, which it is, but it also gets weird with a crazy cult in true Kubrick fashion. Some dull moments arrive, but in the end the viewer is engaged in the plot and the intricacies of the relationships of the characters. Damn. That makes me sound all uppity and sophisticated. The choice of sound and music may seem annoying to some people, but I felt that it added greatly to the mood of the film. Probably not the greatest performance by any of the actors in the film, but it comes together very nicely. With some parts that make you think all people are crazy.
I must admit that I think Nicole Kidman is really hot. So thats a plus for this movie. Not to mention the unbelievable amount of sex in it. Almost a porno.
Bottom line, check it out if you liked the movies I mentioned above.
